This eBook by Stephen Rickerby presents 15 case studies of travel and tourism organisations that operate in the UK across different sectors of the industry - Going Places, Kyle Travel, Kuoni, Lynchpin Tours, Ocean Village, Expedia, bmi, Virgin Trains, Shearings, Novotel, the Giant's Causeway, Durham Cathedral, Legoland Windsor, South West Tourism and Thomson Holidays/TUI. It is intended to support students and tutors of Level 3 BTEC and OCR Nationals, GCE (AS and A2), HND/C and Foundation Degree Travel and Tourism courses by providing inside information about real travel and tourism industry organisations.
Each of the 15 case studies, having introduced its subject organisation in broad terms, goes on to outline its history and development to date and to examine its structure and operations, staffing or customer service, finance/funding and marketing. The organisation's likely future path is indicated, and a range of issues to consider is introduced. Each case study concludes with discussion questions, differentiated by level and pertinent to Level 3, AS/A2 or Foundation Degree study. Hard information about real travel and tourism organisations can be difficult or time consuming to obtain for the busy teacher or student. It is hoped that this book will ease the pain to some degree.
